Emergent Literacy Project 2 Y

Order Description
Implement an in” rel=”nofollow”>interest-based emergent literacy project with a small group of children (three-five children in” rel=”nofollow”>in total between the ages of three and five years).

1. Document the children’s in” rel=”nofollow”>interests to determin” rel=”nofollow”>ine an appropriate story/picture book to read to the group as the startin” rel=”nofollow”>ing poin” rel=”nofollow”>int for your project. Consider how you will present and read the story to draw the children’s attention to concepts of literacy.

2. Based on the themes in” rel=”nofollow”>introduced in” rel=”nofollow”>in the book, plan and implement three (3) play-based learnin” rel=”nofollow”>ing experiences that focus on developin” rel=”nofollow”>ing the children’s language and literacy while allowin” rel=”nofollow”>ing them to learn more about their topic of in” rel=”nofollow”>interest. These experiences should in” rel=”nofollow”>introduce opportunities for talk, new vocabulary and prin” rel=”nofollow”>int materials to encourage emergent literacy (oral, visual and written) understandin” rel=”nofollow”>ings in” rel=”nofollow”>in the children. Your experiences should consider early childhood pedagogical practices and be min” rel=”nofollow”>indful of the role you will play in” rel=”nofollow”>in extendin” rel=”nofollow”>ing the children’s literacy durin” rel=”nofollow”>ing implementation of the experiences.

3. Durin” rel=”nofollow”>ing the project, record/document your plannin” rel=”nofollow”>ing process and the children’s in” rel=”nofollow”>interactions (child:child and adult:child). You can document the children’s experiences and your own decision-makin” rel=”nofollow”>ing processes through the use of whatever recordin” rel=”nofollow”>ing method/s you prefer. Some possibilities in” rel=”nofollow”>include learnin” rel=”nofollow”>ing stories, a diary, photographs and examples of children’s drawin” rel=”nofollow”>ing/writin” rel=”nofollow”>ing or artefacts. You should note the children’s responses which in” rel=”nofollow”>indicate how the project might contribute to their emergent literacy. A selection of this material should be in” rel=”nofollow”>included as an appendix, and referred to throughout your discussion, as outlin” rel=”nofollow”>ined below.
