Public health promotion Project

Choose a modifiable risk factor for Breast Cancer. Prepare a detailed and innovative health promotion project plan for your modifiable risk factor for the Australian community residing in Victoria
especially the county areas with particular attention paid to north-east Victoria. This needs to be an innovative idea, not reused from current or past health promotion projects.

-Education on modifiable risk factor awareness and/or prevention
-Modifiable risk factor/chronic conditions symptoms management
Your health promotion should include:
-A specific group and community (north-east Victoria)
-A brief outline of why this public health promotion is beneficial for the Australian population-how you anticipate it will improve health outcomes for your chosen community.
-What your goals and aims for your health promotion are ( These are identified in Introduction to Public Health 3e Fleming & Parker, 2015 p215, smart, S-Specific, M-measurable, A-achievable, R-
realistic, T-time-limited)
-you should identify which of the Public Health promotion management perspectives this falls into (primary, secondary or tertiary-see page 316 Fleming & Parker 3e).
-Outline the additional stakeholders, and community colsultation which should take place-who this will need to include
-A specific original health message/logo that you have developed to suit your health promotion(eg: if you can play you can play)
-An outline of what health promotion activity will entail and how you will promote this to the target group (newspapers, sports events, school visits, radio-what will work for your target audience)
-An outline of how you plan to evaluate the success of your health promotion
This is not medical-surgical nursing-it is health promotion aimed at the community level-so please do not focus on pathophysiology
Any health statistics used for this activity can be based on the overall Australian population (you may not be able to find data for your specific suburb)
Each area is to be placed under appropriate headings

My ideas for this project is reaching women under the usual age of 50 years old. Many women are diagnosed with breast cancer before menopause, however our governments focus is the 50 and over age
group. Under this age there are many factors that alters and impedes one’s ability to look after one’s self. IE: family’s needs, isolation- due to breast cancer not being as common in this age
group, or physical isolation distance to seek help. The strict rules governing diagnosis such as only women under the age of 35 with a history of 3 immediate family members with the disease are
able to receive an MRI without having to pay the hefty price of having such a scan so therefore it is extremely under utilised. Women not having a complete understanding that they are at risk and
need to be vigilant in looking for the warning signs. Finding groups that support these women.
My essage/logo for this campaign is Bear your breasts
