1. The last 50 years have brought economic wealth to many parts of the world as well as an increase in poverty. 1.2 billion people lived in poverty of which 70% are women. Why are women more likely to live in poverty than men?
2. Gender stratification is commonplace across the world. How do the world’s two largest money lenders, the IMF and World Bank, influence the economic inequalities facing women?
3. The film argues that Rwandan women have helped “heal their nation”. What are some of the means to empower women in the case of post-genocide Rwanda? Do you think that these are successful? Why or why not?
4. Widows and orphans are particularly vulnerable members of society. How is Rwanda addressing this segment of the population post-genocide? Does this reflects the progress made for woman rights on a global scale? Why or why not?
