Write both a Literature Review and a Research Methodology! Literature review around 5,000 to 5,500 words, and Methodology between 2,000 to 3,000 words. Please refer to the structure of the sample dissertation given in additional files, also the Methodology guidelines provided. All surveys must be developed using Qualtrics!!! Reference as many as needed.
One of the main qualities that you need to demonstrate in your master’s dissertation is the “Informed choice of a research methodology”. This requires you to read about the various theories on methodology and construct an approach that will suit the needs of your research best. While there is no need to enter into an in-depth discussion of the various approaches, you should make absolutely clear to the reader-examiner the methodological approach that you followed in order to gather and analyse your data. In order to do so, you need to:
1. Reflect on your philosophical paradigm.
2. Decide on your methodological design.
3. Explain the logic of your research.
4. Decide on data collection methods and techniques.
5. Discuss the ethical implications of the research.
Note that the points listed above do not represent a set of step-based decisions that you need to make. Instead, they are dynamically interrelated and, therefore, they need to be discussed together.
The following books aim to provide basic guidance on how to design your methodological approach. Keep in mind though that it is almost impossible to cover everything in this guide. There is a considerable amount of published literature on research methods and as a researcher, you need to identify the publications relative to your area of interest and include them in your dissertation.
