What are some of the implications of this view? Instructor’s Note: While I find this piece by Donaldson to be quite good overall, he is using the term ‘Cultural Relativism” in a different way than most ethicists and philosophers use that term today. What the author refers to as -Cultural Relativism” is probably better thought of as -Moral Relativism” or — perhaps even better — -Moral Conventionalism.” These distinctions — and the different ways of understanding “Cultural Relativism” — are tricky subjects.
