From a technological perspective the changes saw a strong capital bias away from labour-intensive industries. The impact of these two changes has been an increase in the demand highly-skilled workers in addition to significant attrition rates at the bottom end/low-skill end of the labour market. In addition to these changes, South Africa’s post-Apartheid labour market coincides with an era where economic growth has been comparatively poorer.
