A reflective journal entry

In this final reflective journal entry, write a letter to your current self, after revisiting and re-reading your letter to yourself from the beginning of this course. In the letter, explain specifically how you met the three major goals you hoped to achieve in the beginning of the course. Describe the historical research skills and key topics you learned most about and explain what you plan to do with the knowledge and skills you gained. Discuss how you leveraged skills you always had, and present how you overcame challenges to learn more about African American history.

Consider the following as jumping-off questions for your reflection.

· How can knowledge of African American history help us all better understand the present and future?

· What were your specific learning goals in this class? How did you meet or exceed these goals? Do these relate to personal or professional goals?

· What would you still like to learn more about?

· In what ways does the narrative of African American history conflict with or build from historical narratives that you are already familiar with?
