A Sociological Response to Inequality
The way that sociologists understand inequality is often profoundly different
from the common conversations we hear around us from the news, our
parents and friends, or in our community organizations. While you don’t need
to adopt these sociological approaches to inequality, it is important for you to
understand them and compare them to some of common beliefs about
inequality in this country. Doing so can help you develop and shape your own
beliefs about inequality, and if you happen to like the sociological perspective,
this exercise can help you practice explaining it to other people!
