Abortion
Order Description
In “On the Moral and Legal Status of Abortion,” Mary Anne Warren argues in" rel="nofollow">in support of the
position that abortions are morally permissible, on the grounds that fetuses are not persons.
Warren claims that, as non-persons, fetuses are not “fully-fledged members” of the moral
community and so do not enjoy a right to life. Warren concedes in" rel="nofollow">in a postscript to her essay that
her argument, if successful, would also show that in" rel="nofollow">infanticide is morally permissible. Explain" rel="nofollow">in
Warren’s argument. Is it successful? Why or why not? Be sure to discuss Warren’s criteria of
personhood. Feel free to discuss any of the relevant issues we considered in" rel="nofollow">in class.
