WHO estimates a shortage of almost 4.3 million physicians, midwives and nurses worldwide. The shortage is mostly severe in 57 of the poorest countries, especially in sub-Saharan Africa.

You have been asked to develop a proposal to address the shortage of skilled birth attendants in a low- or middle- income country of your choice.

This proposal should aim to increase the proportion of skilled birth attendance.
