PART 1:
Submit Literature Search Strategy, CRAAP Test, Annotated Bibliography: 7 pages
This assignment will aide you in strategically conducting a literature search, a CRAAP Test, and writing an annotated bibliography. These steps will aide you in writing and organizing your literature research paper.
A literature search strategy is an organized method to help you find articles applicable to your PICOT question. The organization of key terms used to search a database will help you to retrieve accurate results. Begin your search broadly, looking for as many articles as you can, then begin to narrow your search down. Your final literature research paper should have ten (10) or more scholarly articles utilized and referenced throughout your paper.
Primary resources contain first-hand information, meaning that you are reading the author’s own account on a specific topic or event that s/he participated in. Examples of primary resources include scholarly research articles, books, and diaries. Primary sources such as research articles often do not explain terminology and theoretical principles in detail.
Secondary sources describe, summarize, or discuss information or details originally presented in another source; meaning the author, in most cases, did not participate in the event. This type of source is written for a broad audience and will include definitions of discipline specific terms, history relating to the topic, significant theories and principles, and summaries of major studies/events as related to the topic. Use secondary sources to obtain an overview of a topic and/or identify primary resources.
The CRAAP Test is a method to evaluate the Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, and Purpose of the literature you find to address your PICOT. Please conduct the CRAAP Test on three (3) of the articles retrieved during the literature search.
A descriptive Annotated Bibliography is a summary of a source you may be using in your research. Usually 150 words are used to describe why the source is useful for researching a particular topic or question, its distinctive features. In addition, it describes the author's main arguments and conclusions without evaluating what the author says or concludes. Please include at least five (5) additional articles in your Annotated Bibliography. The references should be alphabetical and APA 7th edition formatted.
Please use the template provided for your submission:
For your initial search you can use a variety of sources both primary and secondary, which can include the internet (Google scholar, MEDNAR as well as other databases-CINAHL, PubMed, etc). This is the first step to your research process and is a broad search.
Identify all search terms used with (AND, OR, NOT) and truncation (wildcard characters like *) used in your search
Identify all
Databases
searched All relevant databases for the topic area such as: CINAHL, Medline, Proquest Central
Identify the
years used in your search This depends on the amount of ongoing research published in journals. E.g. 2001-2011
Identify the language E.g. English
Identify the type of studies found E.g. qualitative or quantitative studies
How many articles did you find in your first search?
Now narrow your search process down by searching primary sources only (peer-reviewed) and the following:
Identify the inclusion criteria you used and state why did you included it?
Identify the exclusion criteria you used and state why you ruled it out?
How many primary articles did you find?
