Advertising has the power to change the world. It shapes our perceived needs, our attitudes, beliefs, values, actions and ultimately changes our longer-term behaviors. Messages that resonate strongly with us have the potential to go viral thus sharing with a huge audience very quickly and cost effectively and can have a powerful influence and effect.

Analyse the ad for its creative appeal, concepts, principles and techniques used to engage with the audience. Identify the likely target market and explain why you think the ad or campaign is aimed at them. Is there a secondary or wider market? What is the message? How have they connected with the audience? Do you think they have been effective? Please show your thinking with respect to things we have discussed this semester. Do not just cut and paste please! We will know!

Pick a social issue or wicked problem that you would like to give a new creative approach to. Once again, identify your chosen audience/target market briefly explaining why you have selected them. Identify what approach/es speak powerfully to them. What communication channels would you use, what appeals, what tone of voice, message, creative elements, humor would you use and why. What is your message? Call to action? How can you make it appeal and become ‘sticky’ in the minds and lives of your audience? Is there a natural or unexpected potential for partnering with a major brand or movement?
