Research the topic of diversity and African Americans in Tech and do the following:
A. In the first part of the report, you will share your research question and your findings. Be sure to give context to the field, the timeframe you are exploring, and why diversity in your chosen field is critical. Feel free to include campaigns to address the issue, how the leaky pipeline plays into the state of gender diversity in your field, and the future of the field.
B. Type your 8-12-page report using one-inch margins, 12-point font, and double spacing. Do not go over 12 pages. I will stop reading at that point. Make sure your report has the structure of the five-paragraph theme paper. Your paper will be much longer than a five-paragraph theme, but you need to include an introduction, body, and conclusion.
The introduction needs to have:
a. Information about the topic you chose
b. Your own thesis statement or argument that identifies/summarizes how you understand the authors’ ideas
The body needs to have:
a. Organized paragraphs that begin with a topic sentence
b. Paragraphs that focus on the issue identified in the topic sentence
c. Transitions between paragraphs that connect each paragraph (and idea)
d. Context information from your secondary sources cited in accordance with a manual of style guidelines. You can select which manual of style (i.e., APA, Chicago, etc.), but you must be consistent, and it must be an actual style.
The conclusion needs to have:
a. Well-organized paragraph(s) that address the themes you identified in the body of the paper
C. Express your ideas using your own words. When you use information (quotations and major ideas) from the scholarly articles, make sure you cite that information using footnotes that conform to guidelines from your selected style manual.
