You need to demonstrate your knowledge of the subject matter and show your analytical skills by developing your main ideas (arguments) based on evidences (data). Assignment Each student is expected to write an essay on a topic chosen by student, and approved by the course instructor. Students may examine any aspects of aging related to social, economic, political, and/or cultural elements in the society. You need to clearly define your research problems and your core arguments, give evidences to support your arguments (e.g., tables or charts from available data), cite your evidence and provide references for your citations and data resources. You should keep your analysis as short and concise as possible. Writing an essay is one of the course's major assignments. It will be in the format of a research paper, running less than 3000 words (excluding notes, references, and tables and figures if any). You should present your paper double-spaced with one-inch margins and left justification, as a micro-soft word file. Evaluation We will strictly implement the word limitation rule of the essay (less than 3000 words for the main text excluding notes, tables, figures, and references). I will impose penalty for those who have number of words exceeding the limit of 3000. Depending on the situation, the penalty will be a deduction of minimum 5 points and maximum of 10 points.
