Alcohol dependence and major depression

Alcohol dependence and major depression Order Description Comorbidity and Complex Care Alcohol dependence and major depression STEP 2: Find out the following: Describe the range of complexities typically associated with these co-occurring disorders. What risk factors may contribute to the development of these co-occurring disorders and what developmental models are used to explain this? What causal models are used to explain how these co-occurring disorders interact? What strategies are used for the prevention or early intervention of these co-occurring disorders? What treatments are commonly used/recommended to manage these co-occurring disorders? Answer as many of these as you can. There should be some research on each topic, but the amount will vary depending on the co-occurring disorders you choose. You may need to answer one or two of these questions by researching more broadly, for example 'the treatment recommended for anxiety disorders is x, whilst the treatment recommended for alcohol abuse may include x, y, or z'. If you do this, however, focus on the information that can be applied to both disorders. Structure of your essay Introduction One to two paragraphs giving a brief overview of the topic you have chosen and what information about this you will address in your essay Development A summary of a few key papers that talk about the development of the disorders you are studying, either separately or together, preferably a combination of both. You do need to include what the research says about how they interact with one another, ie using causal and/or developmental models discussed in class. HINT: more than one model may apply to the co-occurring disorders chosen Prevention or early intervention Depending on what the research suggests is most appropriate, describe prevention or early intervention strategies that have been suggested to prevent/intervene in the co-occurring disorders you have chosen. For example, some symptoms of depression can emerge whilst a person is alcohol dependent yet not develop into a diagnosable disorder Treatments and models recommended Describe the dominant model(s) of treatment or therapy reflected in the research on the co-occurring disorders you have chosen to study. Conclusion One or two paragraphs tying together and summing up the information in the essay you've just written, covering the above three sections.
