Planning for programmatic assessment ahead of development of courses is considered a best practice. By deciding on the learning outcomes (what students should know and be able to do at the end of the program), the nurse educator can determine where the assignments will be placed that will measure the outcomes.

Use the curriculum map you created in Week 2:
Write a three-sentence program mission statement.
Write three measurable learning outcomes that align with the mission statement(
Decide on the titles and sequencing of the courses in your program, and
Determine the type of assignments that will measure each outcome
Decide on three assignments, one assignment per outcome
Decide on where you would place one indirect measure and to which outcome(s) the indirect measure aligns.
Determine in which course students will complete each assignment and place the indication on the curriculum map.
