Alternative approach to ethics
Provide a one-paragraph introduction that tells the reader what the guiding question is, what answer you think a utilitarian and a Kantian would give to the question, what the application of an alternative approach to ethics would bring, what your main claim (thesis) about the process of thinking through the issue from these three standpoints is, and how the remaining paragraphs of the essay will provide support for that thesis. 2. Discuss a utilitarian perspective on answering the question. 3. Discuss a Kantian perspective on answering the question. 4. Explain another approach to ethics in enough detail for your reader to understand the basics of the view and what it tells us about making judgments concerning the moral dimensions of issues. 5. Discuss the application of that approach to your guiding question. 6. Reflect on the results of that application in relation to the results of the other approaches and on their own terms. 7. Provide a one-paragraph conclusion that reminds the reader what the guiding question is, what answer you think a utilitarian and a Kantian would give to the question, what the application of an alternative approach to ethics would bring; and what your main claim (thesis) about the process of thinking through the issue from these three standpoints is.
