American History to the Civil War

1. You are an abolitionist writing an editorial for a newspaper before the Civil War. Address all of the following: Southern defenses of slavery, actual slave experiences, and your own justification for how, and when, slavery should be abolished.
   Your thesis statement will state your position on slavery and how you think slavery should end (immediate, gradual, and/or colonization).
2. It is the 1830s, and you are a journalist writing an editorial that defends Native American rights. Address all of the following: confiscation of native land (through treaty or warfare), native resistance and native accommodation to government policies and to the encroachment of white settlers.
