Make sure that each body paragraph has a topic and concluding sentence. A topic sentence tells the reader both What + Why: what the paragraph is about and why it is significant. A topic sentence answers the reader's question: "So what?" Be sure to provide a narrow topic and a main point about it in your topic sentence that indicates why your narrow topic matters. Then, in your concluding sentence, summarize your paragraph's main point and connect your paragraph to your paper's overall thesis.
