Analyzing the organization
1) What is the stated mission of the agency? 2) Who is the primary target population? 3) Based on the agency environment, what assumptions are clients/staff likely to make about the policies, values and practices of the agency? 4) Whose needs take priority: clients, line staff, executives, policy makers, external systems, etc.? Who has the power? 5) Do you see needs or issues that have been overlooked? Try to explain. 6) What’s your beginning sense of how well the agency meets its service mandate? In your analysis be certain to assert the following: 1) Mission of the agency 2)Identify target population and their reasons for seeking services. 3) Worker and client perceptions of the agency environment as they relate to values, policies and practices of the organization. 4) Discuss the use of power and its impact in the organization. 5) Identify and discuss any needs not being addressed. 6) Discuss your impressions on how well agency meets its mission statement.
