Animals in medical research

    • Do you think that animals engineered with specific human diseases are more likely to suffer than “traditional” un-engineered organisms?• Should any animal genetic engineering be considered morally impermissible and banned (e.g., research undertaken for human lifestyle improvement purposes)?• What ethical issues should be considered before expanding the use of these technologies in animal species that are not currently used in biomedical research and what would our obligations be toward the quality of life of these animals?• What methods might be required to ensure the humane and ethical care and use of engineered animals, both in the editing phase of their genome as well as in the production and procreation phase of their, and their descendants’, lives?
