Approaches to developing Strategy

Overview
This week we will look at strategic planning, capacity, and staff management. For nonprofits, it is important that we acknowledge that some of our staff are paid and others may not be (volunteer staff). We must pay close attention to the legal requirements around staff management.

• Describe Models for capacity building
• Identify circumstances affecting the success or failure of collaborations between organizations.
• Describe prominent theories of human motivation

• Summarize prominent leadership theories related to nonprofit organizations including founders syndrome
• Describe the characteristic behaviors of successful nonprofit CEO's
• Explain current mechanisms for ensuring the accountability of nonprofit organizations
• Identify appropriate performance metrics related to an organization's mission
