Arab and Muslim Feminism

Choose a topic that interests you for your short research. the topic should be related to Arab and Muslim feminism. The student should write a paper analyzing the topic, using one of the theoretical perspectives learned in the course, while discussing the advantages and limitations of the theoretical framework chosen for the analysis.
Examples of topics: (These are just examples; you are welcome to choose any other topic that interests you). The impact of higher education / employment on the status of Arab / Muslim women, struggle strategies among Muslim women, whether the veil empower or oppresses women, what are the prices for radical feminist struggle among Arab / Muslim women, etc.
A. Structure of the paper:

1. Introduction – 1 Page: Please define the research topic, why did you choose it? What is interesting in this topic? (it can be up to half page)
2. A two-page literature review that relates to the chosen theoretical paradigm. That is, what was written about the topic you have chosen. You can use bibliography from the syllabus. Please use at least 4 bibliographic items.
3. Discussion - 3 pages. In this section please analyze the topic through the theoretical paradigm chosen within use of resources learned in the course and the literature review. In other words, you are asked to combine the interview findings with your literature review and analyze how the interview answers the research question, and whether the findings from the interview are supported (or not) by the literature review.
   For example: “although the theoretical literature presents the veil as the woman's choice and as an act that empower her, the interviewee claims that it is more complicated than that, and that the veil empowers and oppresses her.
   In this section you are asked to use quotes from your interview to support / contradict the claims in the theoretical literature.
4. Conclusion: 1 page. What did you learn from the analysis of the topic? How did this short research deepen your understanding of what is Arab / Muslim feminism? What are your conclusions from this work?
