Submit a paper identifying the specific area of the criminal justice system you are choosing to do your Research Paper on and why you chose this area, be specific.
This course covers the 3 main areas of Criminal Justice: Policing; Courts; and Corrections. Your assignment is to take one of these elements, which can be broken down, (i.e. Corrections may be broken down to Probation, Parole, Community Corrections, Prison and Jobs, Prison Life, Correction Officers, etc.) and research the historical perspective. The paper should summarize how/where it began, and where it is now. The paper should also include your thoughts on changes, opinions, ideas that you would employ. These changes can be structural, bureaucratic, etc.
Remember, you are only identifying the specific area of criminal justice that you will be conducting your research on and why you selected that specific area. The complete research paper is not due until Unit 7.
The paper shall be in APA format, typed in 12 font Times New Roman, and shall not have been turned in previously to any other instructor for any other course or assignment. Paper length is ½-1 pages not to include the cover page or bibliography. It is to be submitted as a Microsoft Word Document. The research paper shall be an individual effort and not a group project. Since criminal justice is a social science, the writing requirements of the American Psychological Association, otherwise known as the APA, will be in effect for the research paper assignment.
