Art module 1

    Art module 1 watched the Smarthistory video titled “Representation & Abstraction.”  Now you will write a discussion board thread that examines representational, abstract, and nonrepresentational art.   You will also write about the relationships between art and music. Your thread should be composed in two parts: Part 1 write a discussion board thread that addresses the following topic in 200 words or more: Write a paragraph that explains the differences between representational, abstract, and nonrepresentational art.  Your explanation must be informed by content presented in your textbook (Ch. 1) in addition to the Smarthistory video.  Furthermore, your discussion thread must include at least one example of each of the aforementioned types of art--representational, abstract, and nonrepresentational (found in your textbook). Do not forget to include the titles of the works of art you use as examples. Part 2 write a discussion board thread that addresses the following topic in 100 words or more: Write a paragraph that draws connections/comparisons between one work of art or a style of art (from your textbook or otherwise) and a genre of music.  You are encouraged to think creatively and critically about this topic.  Think about images you have seen.  Think about the music you like.  Ask yourself if a work of art has ever made you feel the same emotions you feel when listening to your favorite piece of music.  Your post should describe the formal (visual/physical) appearance of the work of art and elaborate on how you "see" the music in the piece. In writing this part of your discussion thread, do not forget to mention relevant artist names, titles, styles etc. write about Romare Bearden and the influence of jazz on his work.  You should certainly review the website and video on Bearden and jazz.  Yet, you must find your own topic linking art to music.
