- What was the main research question?
- What type of study was done: cross-sectional, longitudinal, experimental, meta-analysis? How do you know
this? Explain in detail the METHODS the authors' used to address the research question. Can this
methodology conclusively show cause and effect? - What CONCLUSIONS do the authors make? IE What is thought to be predicting what? What do the results
suggest overall, according to authors? - What might be some limitations of the study? What may be alternative explanations of CAUSE AND
EFFECT?
Instructions:
Make sure to use full sentences and basic paragraph format in your journal entries. This format will help in
communicating your ideas and thoughts more clearly. See the rubric for scoring details. The expectation is that
students will critically engage and reflect on questions and tie to terms learned in the course module (e.g., types
of research methods; limitations/strengths of methods; confounds to concluding cause and effect).
