Artifact for historical influences.
1. You will analyze your artifact for historical influences. What are the previous
periods, styles or designers who have had an impact on the creation,
execution and presentation of the object? Using text and images, layout your
argument for linking the object’s appearance and function to past visual
communications. Include all aspects (image, typeface, color, material,
presentation, etc.) of the design in your final analysis. You may discuss aspects
of your objects time factors (social, technological, economic, environmental,
religious, or political factors) but only as long as they relate to analysis of the
historical influence of your artifact. (ie., no rambling, just straight forward
analysis of the historical influences that preceded your artifact.)
2. IN YOUR OWN WORDS compose your essay of 2,000 words minimum, 2500
words maximum, not including words for citations, Title Page etc. It must be on
8 ½” x 11” paper, stapled (top left corner), with all margins of 3/4”. Use single
spacing. Save your essay in a Word Doc or PDF format (No other formats are
acceptable and will get you a failing grade). Upload it to BB before 11:59pm
on Wednesday, Nov. 20. You must cite your sources at the bottom of each
page, not on a separate page.
You will be graded on the following:
Well written, and most importantly, it explains the ‘historic influences’.
Employment of honest research and analytical thinking.
Thoroughness and attention to detail.
Clarity and creativity.
Also, your grade will suffer if your work:
-has numerous spelling and/or grammatical errors.
-contains lengthy quotes or paraphrasing, or is plagiarized (earns an ‘F’).
-lacks clarity or focus/or makes statements without proof, information, or good
examples to back up the statements.
-is sloppy or incomplete.
-your name is not on your work.
-lacks citations at the bottom of the page containing the reference
-is improperly formatted
