Order Description
• Introduction: Purpose of paper is specifically stated in first paragraph
• Body of paper: Demonstrates logical development of topic
• Headings: Organized using headings and subheadings as appropriate
• Conclusion: Purpose is summarized in the final paragraph
• Appendix: Critical analysis of at least 3 research studies in a research table (includes level of evidence, citation (in APA format), research design, sample size
and population description, data collection methods, results of study, and quantitative/qualitative critical appraisal rating
• APA format for citations in paper including minimal use of quotations
• Correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling
• Correct paragraph structure and paragraphs of appropriate length
• Paper reflects a 3rd person point of view (exception for Topic related to Nursing Practice section – see below)
• Presents a PICOT question (Population, Intervention, Comparison Intervention, Outcome, Time) related to topic
• Relates the topic to the profession of nursing with substantial evidence of practice
• Relates background of the clinical problem or issue of the problem
• Using the table developed for the appendix, summarize at least 3 research articles and how the research relates to the purpose of the paper
• Summarize the impact of the topic on human health, efficiency, effectiveness or cost analysis in the delivery of care
• Presents rationale for changing practice or not changing practice using supportive data.
• Presents why author is interested in topic.
• Relates topic to situation author has witnessed in clinical/capstone experience.
• Examine possible different perspectives of at least 3 of the following: patients and families, nurse, nursing supervisors and nursing administration, hospitals and
administration, or health care providers).
• Propose ideas for implementing this change at a facility.
• Examine the importance of further exploration of this clinical problem or issue.
• Present analyses of the significance of the topic for nursing practice in relation to one or more of the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) competencies
