The Problem:
There is currently a lack of training in the office. There is not official designated training manual, program, organized format, nor system in our office. The way our office trains is: 1) identify the task to be completed, 2) Find an identical previous completed resources to mirror the steps, and 3) use previous resources to complete the task. This is not good for the workplace because there is not designated way to learn your job role. It is more so of a robotic way of completing tasks. This method makes learning your job role hard which causes workplace stress. However, management and leadership recommend job functions to be completed this way because to them “it builds workplace stamina to learn and complete tasks independently”. But this method does not have any positive feedback from employees. Employees have expressed this is the primary reason for the high turnover rate. A lot of work has to be redone due to a high margin of mistakes, deadlines are missed, and tasks being left uncompleted are just some of the end results to this training method. Their training method isn’t effective or efficient. It is simply a way for management to avoid accountability with training employees.
The Solution:
• Use better training practices to empower employees
• Use better training techniques to bridge the gap between staff and management
• Create incentive/promotion advancement programs to promote staff once training has been completed and new roles have been assigned
• Create new training and learning methods
• Allow management to go through the same training programs as staff
• Create short-term and long-term goals
• Create a metric system to use for promoting staff as training progresses
• Create interactive training methods
