Use background sources to show how readers unfamiliar with the Biafran war need historical information in order to understand the story "Girls at Achebe" by Chinua Achebe properly. Your thesis should indicate what new interpretation of the story we can develop if we do research, and make a claim about the significance of that interpretation.
Remember that a parenthetical citation only applies to the sentence it is in: if you cite repeatedly from the same source, you cannot assume one citation at the end is adequate. Use MLA Handbook style, 8th ed., with parenthetical citations for any quotations from the book.
