  Summarise the key arguments of the selected publications. Compare the positions of the authors on similar issues and critically discuss them. The selected books should either focus on the same period (e.g. Stalinism) or should explore similar themes (e.g. the role of television in the Soviet Union and Russia; the politics of Russian national identity).
