Remember to use active voice where you can. Check your grammar, spellin" rel="nofollow">ing, and punctuation.1. Greetin" rel="nofollow">ing/Salutation-Use a conventional greetin" rel="nofollow">ing (e.g. Dear Mr. Smith:).2. Introduction-This paragraph should generate in" rel="nofollow">interest on the part of the prospective employer (be attention-gettin" rel="nofollow">ing) and state your in" rel="nofollow">interest in" rel="nofollow">in the potential position of employment (the purpose of the cover letter).3. Value sellin" rel="nofollow">ing-This paragraph should demonstrate your ability to add value to the employer’s organization. Consider why the prospective employer is hirin" rel="nofollow">ing and how you can help him or her solve any problems. Look for clues in" rel="nofollow">in the job description. This paragraph should also highlight any strengths and abilities you offer. You can provide examples from your past that are relevant to the position.4. Background summary-This paragraph should briefly summarize the relevant education and experience you can brin" rel="nofollow">ing to the potential position. This can in" rel="nofollow">include any academic degrees, major fields of study, the number of years of experience, any train" rel="nofollow">inin" rel="nofollow">ing, and a description of relevant job experience.5.
