counselor, or other mental health professional. Next, you will create your hypothetical adolescent client who
has come to you for treatment. The adolescent character and the scenario you create will be developed and
used throughout the course for additional assignments.
The reporting issue might be their concerns over making it through puberty, academic issues, risk-taking
behaviors, possible eating disorder, or some other issue that is found in the textbook. This “reporting issue”
must be different than the topic you chose for your Topic Paper.

Develop a paper to address the following questions:
How could someone trying to help this adolescent use theories and research as noted in the text? Use at least
2 major theoretical perspectives that are relevant to this adolescent.
In the report based on the adolescent’s age, discuss in depth the key biological and cognitive transitions that
the adolescent might be experiencing? Be sure to address how biological changes influence adolescent
cognition, emotions and behaviors. Be sure to explore adolescent decision making, abstract thought, and
critical thinking. Would these affect the presenting issues/concerns?
