Make sure the cursor is positioned directly after where you wish you place your citation. There is a button called “Insert Footnote.” Click the “Insert Footnote” button and you will be in" rel="nofollow">instantly directed to the bottom of the page to create your citation. For in" rel="nofollow">instance “if this statement was a direct quote from a source, I would have to use a footnote citation.” Use the Chicago Manual of Style to format your citation followin" rel="nofollow">ing the proper examples. Footnotes are ALWAYS in" rel="nofollow">in 10 poin" rel="nofollow">int font. • You must use a header for your name and the page number. To create a header, click on the “Insert” tab in" rel="nofollow">in the top control bar in" rel="nofollow">in Microsoft word. Click the “Page Number” button and choose the selection that places the page number in" rel="nofollow">in the top right corner of the page. Right next to the page number, type your last name followed by a comma. (See the example on this document for reference.) Your paper will start on the very first lin" rel="nofollow">ine of the document, so you do not need to skip a bunch of lin" rel="nofollow">ines before begin" rel="nofollow">innin" rel="nofollow">ing your writin" rel="nofollow">ing. The title of your paper and the date etc will be in" rel="nofollow">included on your formal title page which you will create later. Do not worry about that now. • Make sure your spacin" rel="nofollow">ing is consistent throughout your paper. (Right click and select PARAGRAPH. Double check that it says “0” under the SPACING headin" rel="nofollow">ing where it says AFTER. Sometimes the default sets it to 10pt) • Make sure you have proofread your paper for spellin" rel="nofollow">ing and grammatical errors.
