Karen Smith,   “Woven Labors: A visit with China’s Lin Tianmiao reveals the evolution of her pioneering, enigmatic work - now on view in New York,” Art in America 100:9 (October 2012): 138-145- (available through Decker Library database: Academic Search Premier) In art criticism in the US, much art by women artists is viewed through a feminist lens, and many critics and scholars have done so with Lin Tianmiao's work (and the work of other contemporary female Chinese artists)- However, Lin Tianmiao has rejected that categorization of her work- Do you agree with Lin? Why or why not? Can an artist reject such a label? Do critics have to take into account the artist's own perception of Madca-
