Chimamanda Adichie's TED Talk

The purpose for this Discussion is to put into conversation our primary texts from Unit 1: Chimamanda Adichie's TED Talk https://gcccd.instructure.com/courses/33695/pages/read-chimamanda-adichies-the-danger-of-a-single-story
Silas House's article https://gcccd.instructure.com/courses/33695/pages/read-silas-houses-searching-for-connection-while-apart
1). Would you choose to stay in Omelas? Or would you walk away? Explain your response.

2) What do you propose is Ursula Le Guin's argument/main message in "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas"? (THINK: What does she want us to consider or think about? How might her short story be a critique of our society?)

3). Both Silas House in "Searching for Connection While Apart?" and Maya Angelou's poem "Alone" seem to make the argument that community is something that all humans need to survive and be happy. Do you think Le Guin is making the same argument in "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas?" Why or why not?

4). Finally, after reflecting on our Unit 1 texts and your own life, provide a working definition of what Community means to you as a member of our current American society.
