Civic Engagement

    Civic Engagement essay is designed to help you think and write critically using the APA format. There are common themes that underlie much of the engagement trends that Putnam discusses in chapters 2 – 5. Provide a summary in your own words of these commonalities. Provide specific evidence from the book of each commonality that you find across the categories. Even though you are paraphrasing his work, you must still give credit where it is due. Make sure you provide appropriate citations. You may use one, and only one, direct quote from the book throughout the paper. It must be cited correctly as well. Two potential ways to structure the paper would be: 1 – Identify the common theme (e.g. each realm is experiencing a decline) and discuss it across all of the realms (politics, voluntary associations, religion, and labor) 2 – Identify the realm and discuss all of the commonalities for each realm (e.g. discuss politics and provide commonality #1, commonality #2, commonality #3, and commonality #4).
