Claim analysis

Below are the components to include in your analysis:
1] The quotation of the specific passage about creativity or genius you will analyze, along with appropriate

citation.
2] An explanation of what the claim means:
A careful rendering of the author’s claim in your own words in which the reader is shown how

your understanding of the author’s claim is derived from the text
An explanation of the significance of the author’s claim. If the claim is true; what will the world

be like, or how should you act? In other words, explain what will follow or what the consequences will be if

the claim is true.
Make sure that you cite textual evidence to support your analysis.
3] An explanation of the author’s justification(s) for the claim:
What reasons or arguments does the author offer for her/his claim?
Make sure that you cite textual evidence to support your analysis.
4] A conclusion discussing the passage’s impact on your thinking:
Questions you are left with
Your doubts or disagreements with the author’s thinking
Reasons why you agree with or have learned from the author’s thinking
