This essay is extremely valuable for Teenagers and teaches them how important it is to work hard and persevere when getting a new job. Today, teenagers need to learn that you have to work your way up and in order to gain more you have to work for it. It won’t be handed to you.

3.  Climbing the Golden Arches” also tells a story. What is the role of the “most obnoxious customer” and of the woman who throws her tray (12, 13)? What roles do these people play in her analysis of causes and effects?

The role of the “most obnoxious customer” and the woman who throws her tray are examples of obstacles that occur in life. In analysis of causes and effects, the way she handled the situations and how she felt would determine how she reacts to things in the future. Hypothetically if she would have gotten angry at the customer, she could have yelled back at them and potentially lost her job. In order to succeed in the future, you have to work through difficult situations and learn how to problem solve.

  1. Why does Horner think that his spatial perspective has helped him to succeed in his life and career?

Horner thinks that his spatial perspective has helped him succeed in life because he is accepting of failure and trying new/different ways of doing things. Having dyslexia can be considered as being “different” and because of this there is unequal treatment between those who do and don’t have this condition. As Horner stated, “We are the people who most often follow our dreams, who think differently, spatially, inquisitively” because no one sets high expectations and puts pressure on those with Dyslexia.  1.  What is Horner’s PURPOSE in defining dyslexia in positive terms as having “extraordinary characteristics”?

Horner’s purpose in defining dyslexia in positive terms is to allow those who also have this learning disorder to not feel left out or feel as if they were “different”. This is how those with linear thinking might view them as, even though having dyslexia is nothing anyone should ever be ashamed or embarrassed about having. Horner referring it as having “extraordinary characteristics” proves that Dyslexia is a special gift that allows you to have more creative thinking because you are not afraid of failure or not meeting any sort of high expectations.
