Coherent argument

In an essay at least four pages in length, present your own coherent argument related to the issues of individuals, communities, power, and control. Specifically, you should respond to one of the questions-at-issue generated during our in-class discussions of Plato, Mill, and Foucault. You should refer directly to the ideas of at least two of the authors we studied in class, as well as to the contemporary cultural context in your essay; you may use an author's ideas as bases for supporting your own argument or as foundation for an opposing point of view.
Your essay should be based on (though there are some cases when it will not appear in the text itself) a properly formatted thesis and should specifically address, in the body, the thesis's main assertion, reason, and underlying assumption. Be careful to define the key terms of your argument {though not with "dictionary" definitions) and to offer a reasonable, balanced look at an opposing point of view, which you'll go on to specifically rebut.
