Communication is a process of sending and receiving verbal and nonverbal messages. In relationships the communication process is an important element in starting, developing, maintaining, and/or terminating the connection between people. The atmosphere around the relationship can be described as the communication environment
. This chapter examines selected elements that affect the communication environment. It provides guidelines for how to improve the communication environment.
To be aware means to focus attention on the present moment. Awareness of the communication environments helps to enhance the quality of communication.
