Communications and Media: Challenges and Opportunities

Your new client Marmite® wants to market their product in the U.S. in a big way. They are working with a myriad of
consultants to see if they can get Americans to like the concentrated yeast extract paste enjoyed by many English
and Australian consumers. Marmite’s parent company, Unilever, forwarded your name and stellar credentials to
the company and wants you to provide information on what kind of media could help their yeast extract product
stand out. They don’t want the usual television spot. They want creative and possibly humorous ideas like
the YouTube ads for Addison, Texas based Poo-Pourri Company (look them up on YouTube).
• The first thing you need to do is research the product; what is Marmite? You might want to start with the
company website.
• Once you find out, who in the U.S. is likely to eat this product?
• Now create a 30 second spot for Marmite.
