Important Reminders:
- Make sure that your thesis sentence is clearly stated as the LAST sentence of the FIRST paragraph.
- Do not quote Perkins – unless you are quoting biographical information or cross currents! Quote the actual author of the text.
- Avoid dropped quotes. Incorporate your quotes using a signal phrase, followed by an intext citation.
- Include the author’s last name and page number in the citation. Example: Signal phrase, “quote” (Emerson 345).
