Concrete Lab Report
Experimental Methods
Provide a brief description of the five mixes that were produced and tabulate the mixture
proportions (use kg/m3
rather than the actual masses used for the batch) – you should be able to
fit all five mixes in one table as shown below:
Mix # 1 Mix # 2 Mix # 3 Mix # 4 Mix # 5 Mix # 6
Portland Cement (kg/m3
)
Fly Ash (kg/m3
)
Silica Fume (kg/m3
)
Water (kg/m3
)
Initial W/CM
Stone (kg/m3
)
Sand (kg/m3
)
AEA (mL/100kg)
WRA (mL/100kg)
Initial Slump (mm)
Water added (kg/m3
)
HRWR added (mL/100kg)
Final slump (mm)
Air (%)
Final W/CM
Explain how the initial slump was measured and then that either water or a high-range waterreducing
(HRWR) admixture was added to achieve a target slump in the range of 200 ± 25 mm
Give details on the specimens that were produced from each mix and how they were stored after
casting (see lab handout) – include details of the temperature of storage.
Describe the testing that was performed on the hardened concrete specimens
