Conflict in your workplace.

  1. Discuss your initial thoughts and feelings (as well as possible behaviors) when you become aware of conflict and/or are confronted with conflict in your workplace.
  2. Discuss your personal values and how they might affect your ability to resolve conflict.
  3. Discuss the importance of understanding cultural values when it comes to resolving conflict and how your own (cultural) values may help or hinder your ability to resolve confront and resolve conflict.
  4. How might you be affected by what occurs during the resolution of a conflict?
  5. Discuss any negative images you may have about conflict and your (possible) reactions to those images that may interfere with your ability of resolve conflict.
  6. Discuss any positives you may have with respect to conflict and its resolution. In other words, can any good come out of conflict? If so, what good? Discuss some of the ways Helping Professionals might try to promote more positive images in the context of resolving conflicts.
  7. Is it clinically effective to force people into a (Conflict Resolution) process they do not want to try? Can you think of a situation where it might be useful to do this? Would you do this?
  8. Discuss why it is important to avoid conveying that there is one right answer to some conflict situations.
  9. Reflect upon your own prior education and how it relates to this course. What else do you need to learn about conflict and its resolution? Where would you learn it?
  10. Include a concluding paragraph(s) where you reflect upon what you learned in the researching and writing of this paper.
