Conformity or Deviance ?

Conformity or Deviance ? Order Description - write the outline for the essay - Deviance involves breaking the norm. Many deviant a cts go unnoticed or are considered too trivial to warrant punishment. People who are observed committing more serious acts of deviance are typically punished, either informally or formally. For example, Susan B. Anthony was fined and tried for casting an illegal vote during the presidential election of 1872, because of her gender. She went against the norm, and followed with a historic speech in 'On Women's Right to Vote'. In the 1960s, Martin Luther King Jr.'s behavior was considered to be deviant by many people. King used the power of rhetoric and his right to freedom of speech. The use of freedom of speech by an African American was not perceived as socially acceptable during that time period. To many he was considered a radical and rebellious. Today, both King and Anthony are highly regarded for their work in making social change. Anthony's face is on the US Dollar coin, and there is a holiday in honor of Martin Luther King.
