Constitutional Amendments

Constitutional Amendments Paper details: Prepare a short paper for the course on the subject of the Constitutional Amendments. The paper should be between 5-8 pages, double-spaced, 12 point and in Times New Roman font. The paper is worth 50 points (10% of the grade) and will require the use of at least three (3) sources, ideally found in the on-campus Ottenheimer Library or other public or private libraries in central Arkansas. These sources should be cited using the MLA, Harvard or Chicago citation style. Other academic sources will need to be approved by the lecturer. The goal of a research paper is to improve the student’s comprehensive knowledge of the topic, improve writing skills and practice discussing academic arguments. The paper will therefore be graded based on the proper use of citations, grammar, spelling and organization and addressing the research points described in this assignment from the academic sources The paper should examine one of the Amendments to the U.S. Constitution. The student should choose one of the 27 amendments to the U.S. Constitution and explain the issues surrounding its proposal and ratification. In general, the paper should explain the amendment process prescribed in the Constitution. It should describe how amendments can be proposed (both methods) and how amendments are ratified by the states (both methods). It should look at the amendments in general and historically. Also, the paper should describe the issues (pro and con) around the specific amendment chosen by the student, i.e., what were the problems causing the need for the amendment and how did the amendment seek to correct.
