A Policy Map

  A policy map is a plan you create for identifyin" rel="nofollow">ing and addressin" rel="nofollow">ing specific elements and/or approaches to a social problem. A policy map is a visual renderin" rel="nofollow">ing of a social agency's history, mission, the policies that exist within" rel="nofollow">in that agency, money streams that are relevant to its purpose, and the stakeholders in" rel="nofollow">involved in" rel="nofollow">in the agency's mission, purpose, and overall effectiveness. For this assignment, you will create a policy map for an agency with which you are familiar. To prepare: Review "Mappin" rel="nofollow">ing Agencies' Policies" and refer to Figure 4.4, "Map of Agency Policies," in" rel="nofollow">in the Jansson text as an orientin" rel="nofollow">ing framework. Also, review Policy Advocacy Challenge 4.5 in" rel="nofollow">in the "Mappin" rel="nofollow">ing Agencies' Policies" section as a guide for gettin" rel="nofollow">ing you started. Select an agency with which you are familiar and develop a "policy map" for the agency, usin" rel="nofollow">ing examples from your text. Be sure to add a narrative describin" rel="nofollow">ing the agency and the community that it serves. Identify the different kin" rel="nofollow">inds of agency policies in" rel="nofollow">includin" rel="nofollow">ing mission statements, budgets, central policies, and policies of subunits. Submit by Day 7 a policy map for identifyin" rel="nofollow">ing elements and issues of a social problem that is addressed by an agency with which you are familiar. You may develop the map usin" rel="nofollow">ing any software or programs that you choose; however, the assignment should be submitted as a ".doc," ".docx," ".rtf," or ".pdf." Make sure that your assertions are supported by appropriate research and reputable resources.
