Write a creative academic essay on my personal experience of the Business Communication for Impact Class. The class is run by Dr Dorothy Ndletyana -Dot -for short a lively and enjoyable lecturer who creates a lot of enthusiasm. I used to hate the idea of public speaking but as i have grown older I quite enjoy the experience, so I wasn't nervous. We went through some basic communication skills - see lecture notes - and learn't hoe to give and receive feedback through various models. We were then requested do an elevator pitch in groups of three. We were given 15 minutes to think and write up one. Not nearly enough time and I was sweating bullets trying to come up with a once on a lifetime pitch. I went for something close to my heart and that is the introduction of a new floating dock in the Port of Durban South Africa.This pitch was then given to the other two members of the group Trishna and Prathna which was recorded on our phones. We were the requested to give feedback using a method I used the Pendleton method on both.It was difficult to do and being both ladies I was careful to give gentle feedback , For my feedback in which I thought i had done pretty well , was that I was stiff and overacted. That was a bit harsh and I felt a little bit disheartening but the Pendleton method i felt help cushioned the blow. The session was well worth it and I learned a little bit more on leadership and worthy feedback. I have jotted down some of my thoughts on paper Required at least one reference per paragraph
