Critical components of co-teaching

Part A
Reflect on your reading related to co-teaching and collaboration and do a little research on your own (use citations where necessary) to answer the following questions.

  1. Distinguish co-teaching from collaboration, team-teaching, inclusion and cooperative teaching,

  2. Examine advantages and disadvantages of co-teaching,

  3. Discuss critical components of co-teaching, and

  4. Identify activities for co-teaching opportunities.

Part B
Consider your strengths and weaknesses with respect to your skills should you be assigned as a co-teacher. To begin, you will make a comprehensive list of all the co-teaching skills you identified in your readings and in the research for part A. You are only to focus on your skills, not your knowledge of co-teaching, and be specific. Next, you will develop your own IEP to target the co-teaching skills you feel you would need to improve upon by the end of this semester (this is much like writing a measurable outcome on an IEP for a student outlining the condition, performance, and criteria). First, summarize your strengths and weaknesses in narrative form (one paragraph for your strengths and one paragraph explaining your weaknesses). Then select one weakness that you will focus on improving by the end of the summer semester and write a goal addressing your weakness. Provide a statement of how you will accomplish your goal by the end of the semester (i.e., strategies or techniques you will use to improve your skills).

Important - Since you are all aiming to become teachers, proper spelling and grammar is expected within this assignment. So please be aware of those little green and/or red squiggly lines on the Word doc. More than two spelling/grammar errors will result in the deduction of one letter grade. Finally, do not complete this in bullet form. This assignment is to be written in APA format.
